Auction Market for Banyuwangi Agricultural Products Generate IDR168 Bln, in Just 5 Hours

Agro Auction Market brings directly together farmers and buyers.

BANYUWANGI, NETRALNEWS.COM - Banyuwangi Regency Government continues to facilitate the marketing of products produced by farmers and ranchers. One of them is by holding an Agro Auction Market that brings together buyers and sellers directly, Tuesday (10/31/2017).

The Auction Market was opened by Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas. Held for the first time, in just five hours, the transactions have reached IDR168.475 billion.

The Auction Market presents 49 producers from Banyuwangi, from farmers to planters. They meet directly with the top ten buyers from Surabaya.

Various successful products were sold. For example, the coffee of Kalibendo Banyuwangi planters was sold IDR10 billion for a volume of 400 tons. The coffee buyer was Kabarudin, Chairman of Puspa Agro Cooperative, the largest agricultural market in East Java.

The coffee planter who got these buyers are Imam Sunardi, chairman of the group of Kalibendo coffee planters. Imam was happy because this is the first time a coffee planter like him gets a big buyer. During this time, he and his colleagues sell their coffee to the middlemen.

Rukiyan, a fruit farmer from Jambewangi Village, said that the auction market is opening a wide market for his farming group. In addition, this auction market adds to their insights about agricultural products that are in great demand by the market.

Rukiyan got sales orders of organic dragon fruit, mangosteen, and durian.

Overall, the auction market successfully sold 11 commodities, from coffee, onion seed, rice, dragon fruit, chili, durian, corn, tangerine, coconut, mangosteen, until beef cattle.

Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas said the local government wants producers, especially farmers, to get maximum benefits by meeting their buyers directly without intermediaries.

"This streamlined trade chain that will suppress inflation, and on the other hand it will be cheerful for farmers and SMEs because the price can be better. We will organize this auction market four times a year starting 2018," Anas said, as cited by Antara.
