PADANG, NETRALNEWS.COM – More than 100 MSME players in Padang received training by the government to be competitive globally through business matching scheme with modern chain stores, supermarkets and food gift shops.
Director of Domestic Product Usage and Marketing (P3DN) at Ministry of Commerce Luther Palimbong said that the company is re-galvanizing the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME).
"MSMEs players should have high competitiveness and good marketing. MSMEs synergies with modern stores, supermarkets and gift shops will help businesses sell their products," Luther said in a press release on Friday (11/3/2017).
The business meeting took place on November 1-2, 2017 in Padang, West Sumatra. This activity is an effort of the Ministry of Commerce to conduct coaching and empowerment for MSME players. In addition to the intensive guidance on product quality and packaging, marketing of MSME products becomes the keyword to boost their competence and competitiveness.
"The market access to MSME products should be improved," he said, adding "The government facilitates such meetings in many cities in Indonesia to make MSMEs more productive and strengthen their synergy with modern market networks."
The Directorate of P3DN at Commerce Ministry has selected 100 potential MSME players in the food sector. They are deemed potentially good and their products can be marketed through modern retail networks. This selection is important because modern stores have requests with specific qualifications. A number of modern shops involved in the business meeting include Transmart, Minang Mart, Big Mart, Toko Swalayan Budiman (supermarket), Rilly Swalayan (supermarket), Citra Swalayan (supermarket), and Ummy Aufa's Food Souvenir Center.
"The government wants to create a mutually beneficial business partnership. MSME may become suppliers in marketing network, modern store distribution and gift shops," said Luther.
