JAKARTA, NNC - State-owned port management company Pelabuhan Indonesia IV, also known as Pelindo IV, has invested IDR85 billion to bring in five Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) for the ports in Jayapura and Ambon.
Doso Agung, President Director of Pelindo IV, said the five container loading and unloading equipment units had arrived at Jayapura Port, transported by New York MV Hansa Heavy Lift (HHL) ship with Barbados and Antigua flag.
"The arrival of these five RTG units is to support the activities in the port under Pelindo IV, where two RTG units will be located in Jayapura Port and three more for the Port of Ambon," Doso said.
Director of Facilities and Equipment of Pelindo IV, Farid Padang added that the newly arrived RTG lift capacity is SWL 40 ton with high stacking 5 + 1 and span 23,47 meters or 6 row + 1 (truck line). It is hoped that, with a fairly fast work from the new RTG, can support the productivity target of loading and unloading of goods in the two ports.
Particularly in Port of Jayapura, there are now two crane container units, two RTG units, four head trucks, two tronton, two reachstackers, one 7 ton forklift, one mobile crane, one berada Anggada IX 2x1,000 hp, one speed boat 2x40 hp and 10 reefer plugging.
With the arrival of two new RTG units at the last port in Eastern Indonesia (KTI), the total RTG owned by Port of Jayapura becomes four units. There will also be three new RTG units at the Port of Ambon..
