JAKARTA, NNC - The need for cash in the Christmas and New Year holiday periods tends to increase. Reflecting from that, Bank Indonesia (BI) has prepared cash worth IDR193.9 trillion.
The amount consists of 2016 Rupiah emission amounting to IDR125.8 trillion (65 percent) and Rupiah money other than 2016 emission year of IDR68.1 trillion (35 percent).
Eny Panggabean, Executive Director of Payment System Policy and Supervision at Bank Indonesia, said the central has distributed money to meet people's need for cash before the Christmas and New Year period begins.
"The money has been distributed to meet the people's need for cash," said Eny at Bank Indonesia Building, Jakarta, Thursday (14/12/2017).
Currently, Bank Indonesia has 155 distribution points, where the distribution consists of 44 units of cash work and 111 Cash in deposits.
"The public's need for cash will be met by cash services to communities spread throughout Indonesia," Eny explained.
By the end of the year, Bank Indonesia also reminded people to anticipate the circulation of counterfeit money. People are encouraged to pay attention to money before receiving or using the money they have.
"People are careful in conducting transactions by examining the characteristics of authenticity of money with the 3D method (viewing, touching, using light) .The people are also advised to maintain and care for the Rupiah well," she said.
