BNI Predicts Credit Card Transactions Jump 30 Percent

DENPASAR, NNC - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (IDX:BBNI) estimates non-cash transactions using credit cards jumped about 30 percent during the Eid al-Fitr (Lebaran) 2018 holiday momentum.

"For credit cards, during Lebaran, the potential for shopping transactions is bigger," said BNI Finance Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo when reviewing the limited service operation at BNI Denpasar, Saturday (6/16/2018).

According to him, the prediction is higher than last year which reached the range of 20-25 percent because of bigger potential transactions using credit cards, including purchasing tickets, lodging and consumption.

Although the number of credit cards currently reaches about 1.7 million, the volume of transactions is estimated greater than the use of debit cards with the number of cards reaching about 18 million.

"Debit card transaction volume is still about one-third of credit cards," he said as quoted by Antara.

Credit card transactions, he said, are predicted to be mostly used for transactions in e-commerce networks or sites, reflected from previous years' experience that jumped by 30 percent compared to transactions in retail.

During the long holiday of Lebaran, the state-owned bank encourages customers to optimize the utilization of electronic channel services by one of them with non-cash transactions.

In addition to automated teller machines, electronic services that can be utilized are including internet banking services, short messages, mobile phones and agents amounting to 3,605 agents.

Meanwhile, to support the services during the long holiday, the state-owned bank opened 205 outlets across Indonesia to serve limited services.

The limited services include deposits or account withdrawals, fuel payment deposits, book-entry in rupiah, clearing and Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) during Lebaran holidays.
