JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - PT Industri Jamu dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk has again conducted aid distribution for disaster victims through the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs. This is the second aid distribution done by the herbal medicine company through the Ministry of Social Affairs.
On behalf of the Indonesian government, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini expressed appreciation and gratitude to PT Sido Muncul.
The Social Affairs Minister emphasized that the handling various social welfare problems requires contribution and synergy with all stakeholders, including the private sector, philanthropists, and other elements of society. This was no exception when some of the nation's people faced natural disasters such as in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
"On behalf of the government, I would like to thank PT Sido Muncul for their caring for the disaster survivors. The aid will be projected for the preparation of damaged houses of residents," Tri Rismaharini said.
This statement was conveyed by the Minister of Social Affairs during the handing over ceremony of aid from PT Sido Muncul, which was delivered by Director of PT Sido Muncul Irwan Hidayat in Jakarta, on Wednesday (04/14/2021).
This time, PT Sido Muncul delivered aid worth IDR500 million that would be distributed to victims of the flash flood disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Previously, in February, the herbal medicine company had also distributed aid for disasters that happened in parts of the country, from floods, landslides, mountain eruptions, and so on.
The Minister of Social Affairs said the aid distribution will be focused on helping to restore the homes where disaster survivors live.
"These people have been in refugee camps for too long, especially for those who have lands that are ready to be worked on ," said the Minister of Social Affairs, who was accompanied by the Director General of Social Empowerment Edi Suharto.
The restoration of the residents' houses was urgent because they basically owned land but their houses were damaged by the flood. "They have fields and land, but all of them are hit by disaster," she said.
On the same occasion, Irwan Hidayat said the aid delivery was a form of sympathy and a sincere desire to help fellow Indonesians who were stricken by disaster.
"To distribute aid, we see who is ready. Yes, the government is ready in this case. So this is also a form of trust in the government," said Irwan.
Ealier, PT. Sido Muncul has also provided phase I assistance worth IDR 500,000,000 for the NTT disaster.
The Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed aid from the Metropolitan Peduli Foundation in the form of medicines worth IDR20,000,000 for flood disaster in South Kalimantan.
