JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - On the second day of Tokyo visit on Tuesday (05/16/2017), Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan resumed his meeting with the Japanese big investors.

The first agenda was a breakfast meeting with CEO & President of Inpex Corp. Toshiaki Kitamura, followed by a visit to the headquarters of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to discuss with CEO Tadashi Maeda.

Next, Minister Jonan visited Itochu Corp. headquarters and was greeted by Vice Chairman Yoichi Kobayashi. The final day agenda was closed for lunch with former Japanese Prime Minister Yosua Fukuda.

In discussions with Inpex, Jonan reiterated that the process of developing the Abadi Field or the Masela Block in the Arafuru Sea, Maluku, could be accelerated, because the process of planning and discussion is already quite long.

Jonan requested that Inpex immediately discuss with Upstream Oil and Gas Executive Task Force (SKK Migas) to start the process of Pre-Front End Engineering Design (FEED).

The discussion should have been into the technical stage, including a number of topics such as Pre-FEED implementation, production capacity, as well as on shore location.

Related to the location, Minister of Energy stated three location options.

"The government has no specific preference regarding location," said Minister Jonan.

Both parties agreed the location will be set after Pre-FEED stage completed, before entering the FEED stage.

Inpex CEO & President Toshiaki Kitamura expressed his company's readiness to start the Pre-FEED phase immediately.

To that end, Inpex agreed to immediately hold a joint workshop with SKK Migas, to discuss strategic points to start pre-FEED stage.

Deputy Head of SKK Migas MI Zikrullah who attended the meeting, said it is ready to immediately start workshops with Inpex in the near future.

In addition to the Masela Block, the two sides also discussed the Mahakam Block. In this block Inpex participates as an investor together with Total E&P Indonesie. (*)
