JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesia is ready to cooperate and contribute in science and technology to member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, said that she welcomed the cooperation agenda of science and technology among members of the OIC. “What we can do immediately is cooperation in education, training and research,” she said on Sunday (9/10/2017).
Puan is accompanying Vice President Jusuf Kalla at the OIC Conference on Science and Technology Development in Astana, Kazakhstan.
She said that the research on communication technology development, construction, energy, agriculture and marine development in Indonesia is quite advanced and can contribute within the framework of science and technology of OIC countries.
Meanwhile, Vice President Jusuf Kalla wants Islamic countries to better implement science and technology so as not to be left behind with other countries. "At the OIC, there are too many conventions, discussions, seminars. We want to implement these one by one," said the vice president.
He said, in fact the technology in Islamic countries is quite good and advanced, such as in Kazakhstan, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan. Therefore, as a country incorporated in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the large population should be able to implement the technology.
The science and technology conference of OIC countries intends to formulate a strategy and a common agenda to reduce the gap of science and technology progress between OIC and developed countries.
The OIC Summit aims to map out the strategy of Islamic countries in the field of science and technology in the next 10 years to narrow the gap between science and technology between Muslim and developed countries. Indonesia at the summit will also present its views on science, technology and human development.
