JAKARTA, NNC - Indonesia National Police (Polri) Chief General Tito Karnavian says his institution will build a special prison specifically for terrorists, located in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java. The construction of the prison begins this August by using a fast container system from Spain.
"It has been approved by the president and the Finance Minister. Hopefully, the construction will begin this month, as it uses a fast container system from Spain," Tito said told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday, Aug 8.
Tito explained that the prison would later accommodate 340 terrorists is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018.
"We have instructed so they are placed in separate rooms with tighter security while waiting for the detention center in Cikeas to be completed," Tito said.
After the Surabaya bombing, Police have arrested some 283 terrorists according to reports from the Special Detachment 88 Anti Terror.
"Those terrorists are currently being detained in local Regional Police Headquarters, Police Resorts, and Precincts according to the area where they were arrested," Tito added.
