JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria has brought up the high COVID-19 cases in Jakarta again. The reason is that Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, which is different from other cities or provinces.
Riza mentions that as the Nation's Capital, people interaction and mobility are classified to be high. It is no wonder since all activities from the government, economy, and politics happen in Jakarta.
"The high number of interactions can cause a crowd, and it is where the contagion starts," he said on Monday (02/15/2021).
According to Riza, the capacity of COVID-19 testing, tracing and treatment (3T) can be done by the Jakarta Government. When more tests are taken, there will be more COVID-19 cases that are found.
"It is easier to be done on the paper, indeed, if we want to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases, we do not have to do tests. The fact is stated already. Why do we have to hide it?" Riza said.
In fact, Jakarta is very transparent. It is very open. "We even do contact tracing to at least 30 people per positive case for browsing," he said.
That step, according to Riza, is a government commitment to reduce the virus spread.
Therefore, he requests the citizens who experience the symptoms to do an examination in the public health centres and hospitals.
"We want to solve this problem immediately by identifying the problem. And, what is the best problem identifier? It is by doing testing," he said.
Through testing, the Jakarta Government can identify COVID-19 cases so that their parties can take preventing, handling, and controlling steps.
Riza also keeps mentioning how the test capacity in the Jakarta Government is ten times more than the standard which is determined by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The COVID-19 cases in Jakarta still have not shown any signs of declining. The number of cases is in 2,000 to 3,000 for the last two weeks.
Now, the Jakarta Government is conducting large scale social restriction by following the Micro PPKM rules from the central government.
As of Sunday, February 14, 2021, the number of positive cases in Jakarta is 17,120 cases. The patients are in the middle of treatment in hospitals or doing self-isolation. Accumulatively, since March last year, there have been 315,553 COVID-19 positive cases.
From that number, about 293,538 patients are declared to be recovered, with a recovery rate of 93 percent. For the death cases, there are 4,895 deaths with the death rate of 1.6 percent. The Jakarta Government reports the number of "positivity rate" or COVID-19 contagion ratio in the Nation’s Capital keeps increasing.
The COVID-19 positive ratio reached 23.5 percent on February 14th 2021. For two days before that, sequentially, the COVID-19 positive ratios were in the number of 21.1 and 23.2 percent.
