Social Affairs Minister Inaugurates Sports Museum in Surabaya (kemsos)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - To motivate the younger generation to emulate the outstanding figures in the future, it is necessary to present a vehicle, one of which is through a museum.

"This was my old dream when I started to become a mayor, the museum collected many achievements by those who have made achievements for the nation," said Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, accompanied by Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi while inaugurating the Gelora Pancasila Sports and Rehabilitation Museum at Jalan Padmosusastro No.12, Surabaya, on Saturday (05/08/2021).

Tri Rismaharini, also known as Risma, said that those who have contributed have not just made Surabaya proud, but have also made the country proud.

"The achievers are today's heroes who have brought a nation, and it is not easy to achieve. These athletes must regulate sleep and meal hours, cannot be arbitrary and have very discipline," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

The achievements do not only have to be in the academic field, but in any field, one of them is for figures who have raised Indonesia in the global arena.

"If there is no vehicle in the form of a children's museum, it is not certain that those who have achieved and brought the name of Indonesia in the middle of the world," he said.

Risma added that the presence of the museum will help children in the future in not choosing the wrong idols and can take motivation from figures and people who are clearly outstanding.

Eri Cahyadi, Mayor of Surabaya, welcomed the presence of the museum to be an example not only for Surabaya children as well as in other places in Indonesia. "So that children will have an example, and God willing, they will know the struggles of those who excel in the nation and state. The collection will continue to be added gradually," said Eri.

The Pancasila Gelora Museum returned under the Surabaya City Government in 2018 after previously being managed by another entity.

The museum functions for community sports with facilities for basketball, volleyball, THOR field (soccer field and athletic track with international standard), so that it can improve the level of public health.

The Surabaya Sports Museum (MOS) was built and immortalized to commemorate, appreciate the services of sports heroes (athletes) who came from East Java who have made the name of the nation and state of Indonesia proud.

The inauguration of the museum was marked by an emphasis on sirens, followed by the signing of the marble board, cutting of jasmine strands, and followed by a visit to the museum.

In the museum, there are athletes' memorabilia such as the match costumes they wear, photos of victories, medals, sports match equipment, and visitors can take photos via photo booths with the athletes virtually.
