Pregnant Women Should Not Often Use Mobile Phones

JAKARTA, NNC - In celebration of the 2019 National Children's Day (HAN) which is celebrated every July 23, Pediatrics Professor of FKUI Prof DR dr Soedjatmiko, SpA (K), MSi has urged pregnant women not to often use handphones. Soedjatmiko appealed to pregnant women and fathers to often interact with baby inorder to avoid radiation.

Soedjatmiko suggests that rather than using a mobile phone, its better for pregnant women to interact with their baby. Various interactions can be done including praying, talking, singing and story-telling.

"Do not use your mobile phones too often. Interact with the baby inside the womb. Its a form of love and stimulation for the child," Soedjatmiko said during a Media Meeting themed Indonesian Kids, GENIUS (Nimble, Empathy, Courageous, Superior, Healthy) Kids with a sub-theme: Genius Kids, Optimal Growth Development, at the office of the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, July 24.

In addition to not frequently using mobile phone, Sujatmiko urged to provide balanced and sufficient nutritious food consisting of staple foods, protein side dishes, vegetables and fruit. He also encouraged to save spending, by not buying cigarettes and reduce the purchase of credit balance on phone, and allocate the money to buy side dishes, vegetables and fruit for a pregnant mother. Iron, iodine, calcium, zinc, vitamin A and D tablets can also be consumed as additionals.

Soedjatmiko also advised to pregnant women to maintain cleanliness of their foods, beverages, body, clothing and environment. Also ensure the availability of clean water for cooking, drinking and bathing. Keep cigarette smokes, vehicle fumes and immunize Tetanus Toksoid (TT).
