LONDON, NETRALNEWS.COM - More than 32,000 people in the United Kingdom (UK) have died due to suspected COVID-19 coronavirus, the highest official number ever reported in Europe, according to data released on Tuesday.
The Office for National Statistics said 29,648 deaths occurred in England and Wales, with COVID-19 mentioned in the death certificates.
By including deaths in Scotland and Northern Ireland, now the official number is 32,313. The figure is higher than Italy, the country which had suffered the most in Europe before, although the number of deaths did not include suspected cases.
The ministers do not like the ratio of the number of deaths. According to them, the excessive reports of deaths, i.e. the number of deaths from all causes above this year's average, is a more meaningful barometer, as reported by Reuters and quoted by Antara, Tuesday (05/05/2020).
