JAKARTA, NNC - Generally people choose bananas to eat forbreakfast if they are in a hurry and do not have enough time for breakfast. Moreover, bananas are known for a million health benefits, such as assisting in heart health, reducing fatigue, maintaining blood pressure, reducing depression, constipation, heartburn, ulcers and cooling effect in the body.
High iron content in bananas, helps stimulate the production of hemoglobin so it can cure anemia. However, is it right to eat bananas on an empty stomach?
"Bananas are a good source of potassium, as well as magnesium, so they meet the needs of various nutrients in your body.This boosts energy and reduces hunger. We should eat bananas every day," says Nutritionist, Macrobiotic Health Coach, Dr Shilpa Arora, as quoted from NDTV some time ago.
Twenty five percent of sugar in bananas gives you the need for sugar so it can provide energy to perform various daily activities. Other nutrients contained in bananas include iron, tryptophan, vitamin B6 and B vitamins.
However, according to various sources, although full of potassium, as well as and magnesium, but not the right choice to eat bananas on an empty stomach. The reason:
1. The high amount of natural sugar present in bananas can increase the energy so it can make you feel the energy drained after several hours.
2. Bananas can make you drowsy and feel tired
3. Bananas are acidic. Therefore, if taken on an empty stomach can cause problems in the intestines.
"Bananas are acidic and have high amounts of potassium.Bananas are well consumed to start the activity in the morning, but not on an empty stomach.It should have your stomach contents to minimize the acid content in the body," said Nutritionist based in Bengaluru, Dr Anju Sood.
High magnesium content can cause an imbalance between calcium and magnesium in the blood that may have adverse effects on the cardiovascular system.
Health science from India, Ayurveda, also recommends that people avoid the consumption of fruit in the morning on an empty stomach.
Ayurveda expert, Dr. BN Sinha said, technically not only bananas but fruit should be avoided consumed in the morning. One way to avoid the consumption of fruit directly, can mix it with other foods so that the effect subsides with the nutrients in it.
For example by making bananas into Oatmeal cakes, or using skim milk on bananas, as well as cereals from bananas.
