BOGOR, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesian Golf Academy Association (Perkumpulan Akademi Golf Indonesia/PAGI) has held the Indonesia Satu golf event in commemoration of Indonesian Youth Pledge Day. The event was successfully held at the Emeralda Golf Club in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java, on Sunday (10/18/2020).

Vice President of PAGI Gonthor R Aziz said the thematic tournament was not the first time that had been held. On September 2020, a similar activity was held with the theme of Red and White (Merah Putih) and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). The event was held to commemorate the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Since 2016, PAGI has been committed to promoting golf in Indonesia, since the public's perception of golf so far is that it is an expensive sport," Gonthor said to Netralnews on the sidelines of the event.

Departing from this situation, industrialists who care about the revival of golf in the largest Southeast Asia country have held various activities from 2017 to the present time. There were various activities that were also supported by the Indonesia Ministry of Youth and Sports. Unfortunately, PAGI has faced challenges in conducting several routine activities due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

"The challenge comes in the form of several routine activities PAGI conduct with the Ministry of Youth and Sports that were postponed. Then there is also the desire to hold a tournaments packaged in the orientation of patriotism and unity," Gonthor added.

Unexpectedly, the thematic tournament was welcomed by the participants. There were various golf players from the private sector, those involved in the capital market, financial sector, and golf enthusiasts at the PAGI-Golf1 golf tournament. Gonthor assessed that there was enthusiasm and a network that was getting better and closer, but still complied with health protocols.

"The event is carried out with health protocols, which includes checking body temperature, washing hands, keeping distance, and taking care of one another. In addition, the number of participants is also limited," he said.

Gonthor admitted that playing golf does require a high degree of patience, for example queuing for each other, being sincere with others, and waiting patiently for each others turns. Especially with the pandemic situation, the committee and Emeralda Golf Cup also tried to heep the queue short and implementing health protocols for participants during the event.

With the success of the event, Gonthor expressed gratitude for the enthusiasm of all the event's participants. He hopes that there are suggestions for improvement in the implementation of similar activities in the future.

Gonthor also thanked Emeralda Golf Club for providing the event's location. In addition, Gonthor also thanked the event's sponsors, one of which is Rych Water and its business groups such as Rych Coffee, KOKiapp,, SuperKiosk, and other supporters.
