MADRID, NETRALNEWS.COM - Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has been infected with COVID-19 coronavirus, the Madrid-based La Liga football club said, as reported by Marca.

In the statement, the defending La Liga champion explained that Perez did not show any symptoms.

He tested positive after Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane also tested positive last month.

Zidane did not show any symptoms, and he has returned to manage the team in the training field this morning after going through an isolation period.

Nacho Fernandez was tested positive with COVID-19 as well last week.

"Real Madrid confirmed that the test result, which is done periodically, shows that our president Florentino Perez is tested positive with COVID-19, even though he did not show any symptoms," it said.

Perez is in his second period as the Real Madrid president, which started in 2009. He also served as the club’s president from 2000 to 2006.

During Perez's presidency, Los Blancos won five La Liga titles and five Champions League titles.

According to the Real Madrid website, Perez has restored Real Madrid's prestige internationally, putting the club's finances in a good condition, thus making the club the richest in the world.

However, the club has undergone a tough time in this season. They lost ten points from city rivals Atletico Madrid, and was also eliminated by Alyocano from Copa del Rey last month.
